October kicks off with the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival, then keeps chugging along with pumpkin trains in Rancho Cordova and Folsom. October also means the start of the Sacramento Kings’ season. The free Sacramento Kings Fan Fest will get the city amped up for a new season of basketball, and there’s another chance to get into the fandom at the free Tip Off The Season at the Westfield Galleria in Roseville.
The Sacramento Kings might call the Golden 1 Center home, but Disney On Ice: Frozen & Encanto glides in and takes over the arena at the end of October. Halloween events from Pumpkins & Planes at the Aerospace Museum to Wild Howl-O-Ween at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary will be happening all month long.

Best October Events in Sacramento for Kids 2025
Celebrate fall and the role oak trees play in the environment’s ecosystem at the free OAKtober Festival on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Maidu Museum in Roseville. This family-friendly event will have crafts for kids, a pumpkin patch, games, acorn pounding, and museum access.

Climb aboard the Placerville & Sacramento Valley Railroad (PSVRR) for the Pumpkin Patch Flyer from Oak Station to Willow Springs the first three weekends in October 2025. Folsom will be bursting with fun at the Fall Foam Party on Saturday, October 4, 2025. This free, family-friendly event will have foam cannons, face painting, balloon twisting, and a a candy lane in the Folsom Central & Folsom Faire Shopping Centers.
