Best October Events in Sacramento for Kids 2025

Celebrate fall and the role oak trees play in the environment’s ecosystem at the free OAKtober Festival on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Maidu Museum in Roseville. This family-friendly event will have crafts for kids, a pumpkin patch, games, acorn pounding, and museum access.

Climb aboard the Placerville & Sacramento Valley Railroad (PSVRR) for the Pumpkin Patch Flyer from Oak Station to Willow Springs the first three weekends in October 2025. A rail motorcar trip will take passengers to a pumpkin patch. Tickets include one free pumpkin. There will also be additional activities for kids. 

Folsom will be bursting with fun at the Fall Foam Party on Saturday, October 4, 2025. This free, family-friendly event will have foam cannons, face painting, balloon twisting, and a a candy lane in the Folsom Central & Folsom Faire Shopping Centers. 

The Annual Sacramento Turn Verein Oktoberfest returns for two days on October 10 & 11, 2025. There will be authentic German food and beer, live music, and dancers. Oktoberfest is family-friendly and will have activities for kids. 

The UC Davis California Raptor Center will have its free annual Fall Open House on Saturday, October 11, 2025. This family-friendly event will have hands-on educational experiences while getting to see some of the raptors up close, on the gloves of ambassadors. 

The Grand Opening of the new Peek-a-Boo Factory takes place on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The first 50 kids will receive free admission to this brand-new indoor playground in Rancho Cordova. The Falling Leaf Food & Crafts Festival takes place on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Vernon Square in Roseville. There will be fall family activities like a pumpkin patch and painting, and a pre-halloween costume contest. A kids zone will have inflatables and carnival games. Food and vendors will be at the event. 

Founder’s Harvest Festival will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Carmichael Park. This free fall festival will have a Kids Zone with games, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, live entertainment, food trucks, and more. 

Safe & Super Halloween at Fairytale Town will occur over two weekends from October 11-12 & 17-19, 2025. This beloved Land Park locale will transform into the world of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost. Kids will get to trick-or-treat and participate in interactive activities. 

The California Museum will be having a family-friendly Día de los Muertos Fiesta on Saturday, October 11, 2025 to celebrate the opening of their newest exhibit, Recuerdos Ilustrados: Día de los Muertos 2025. Get ready to light the beam! The Annual Sacramento Kings Fan Fest is on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Golden 1 Center. Tickets to this event are free (but they go fast!). Kings players will take the basketball court for a practice, there will be family-friendly activities, giveaways, and more. 

Swim with the Pumpkins: A Family Friendly Spooktacular Event splashes into Folsom on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The annual free trunk-or-treat with Folsom Police and Fire will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Dress in your Halloween costume and bring a treat bag while exploring service vehicles.

A trunk-or-treat will take place at the California Automobile Museum on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Kids will get to trick-or-treat inside the museum while checking out classic cars. There will be a haunted house for older children. Kids 5 and under are free.
