This weekend is all about giving back to our planet, and there are many family-friendly Earth Day events in Sacramento, from Earth STEAM Day at Aerospace Museum to an Earth Day Celebration at Fairytale Town.
There are many free family-friendly festivals and resource fairs, including the 9th Annual Autism Festival, Stronger Together: A Family Resource Fair, the El Dorado Hills Spring Carnival, and Elk Grove Family Fun Day.
Families can also do a Story Stroll in Roseville, where they’ll encounter fun activities and characters along the way, and participate in The Wonder Grove’s inaugural Bug Bash Fun Run. Plus, it’s UC Davis Picnic Day on Saturday, an annual tradition where thousands of people will flock to Davis, CA, for tons of festivities.

As part of Día, kids can enjoy a Bilingual Storytime combining soccer and reading on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Galt – Marian O. Lawrence Library. Kids will receive a free book and create their own soccer-themed accessories at this free event.
Youth ages 12-24 can attend the free NorCal Arts Sactown Youth Nights on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Will C. Wood Middle School. This arts jam will include free food, art stations, an open mic, games, culture, skill-building, and more. This is a free event but pre-registration is required.
A Kids Carnival and Magic Show that benefits the RiteCare Childhood Language Center of Sacramento will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Sacramento Scottish Rite. This is a family-friendly event that directly benefits the RiteCare Childhood Language Center of Sacramento that provides speech-language therapy at no cost to families.
Catch a free outdoor movie at Evenings in the Park at various parks in Rocklin in 2026. In addition to a free movie, there will also be bounce houses, a chalk walk, and a bubble station. Event begins at 6pm and movies start at dusk.
