Things to Do in Sacramento This Weekend with Kids (June 19-21, 2026)

The El Dorado County Fair takes place for four days from June 18-21, 2026 in Placerville. Expect rides, exhibits, music, livestock shows, and family fun at this summer fair in El Dorado County, 

Meet and pet baby goats that help manage vegetation in Roseville parks at a free Goat Meet & Greet Pop Up on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Mahany Park (next to the playground). This is a family-friendly event and a goat-themed storytime will occur at 10am.

The B Street Theatre, Celebration Arts, BTU Arts and Capital Stage will join forces on Friday, June 19, 2026 for a Juneteenth Art Walk. All are welcome to join this free community event. The walk begin at Celebration Arts and be led by BTU Arts’ Second Line-Style Brass Band through midtown Sacramento. 

Families can head to Village Green Park in Rancho Cordova for free Friday Moonlight Movies during every Friday in June 2026. Two different movies will be shown each Friday night (first one at 5:30pm, second one at 7pm). This year’s theme is Red, White, & Movie Night. 

Family Movie Night returns to Folsom for three nights in summer 2026. Families will get to watch outdoor movies for free at unique family-friendly locations in Folsom, including the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, Andy Morin Sports Complex, and Steve Miklos Aquatic Center. For two weekends in June from June 20-21 and June 27-28, 2026, Lavender Blue Harvest Days will take place at Bluestone Meadow Farm and other Apple Hill farms.

The Annual Placer County Juneteenth Celebration will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Johnson-Springview Park in Rocklin. This free family-friendly event will include live music, vendors, food, a sweet potato pie contest, and the chance to view the Opal Lee Perseverance Quilt Project. 

Kids can participate in a free morning of soccer on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Kloss Park in Elk Grove. Children ages 2-8 will get to  kick off the morning with Soccer Shots for 30-35 minute sessions. This is a free event but registration is required. 

Families will be awed by an engaging free Mad Science show on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Galt – Marian O. Lawrence Library from 10am to 11am. 

Families can check out live animals and hear their stories at Wild Things on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the McKinley Library. This is a free program that will be outdoors. Bring a blanket to sit on and prepare to be in the sun. 

Kids can step into the role of a scientist to learn about physical and chemical reactions through interactive STEM experiments with the Sacramento Children’s Museum on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the South Davis Montgomery Library. Sacramento Children’s Museum: Reactions in Action is a free program from 11am to 12pm. 

Color The Block will have a free Juneteenth/Dadteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Fruitridge Community Collaborative. There will be kids activities, live performances, a Black Inventors exhibit, produce & plant giveaway, resources, vendors, and celebrations for fathers. 

A free Dino-Magic Show will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Arthur F Turner Community Library in West Sacramento from 2pm to 3pm. Expect comedy with prehistoric facts. 

The free 2026 Juneteenth Block Party at 40 Acres will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 in Oak Park. This family-friendly community celebration will have activities for all ages. Esther’s Park will have kid-friendly hands-on activities, games, and tons of fun.

Splash into an outdoor movie at Dive-In Movie at the Elk Grove Aquatics Center. In 2026, family-friendly movies in the pool will be shown once a month from June to August. The pool opens at 4pm, and the movies begin showing at sunset.

An all-you-can-eat Crystal Creamery ice cream fantasy awaits during the evening of Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Fairytale Town. Enjoy ice cream tasting stations, interactive activities, and an enchanted marketplace. Fairy-themed or fantasy costumes are encouraged for the event.

The free Elk Grove Pride community festival will celebrate love and diversity on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Laguna Town Hall. This is an all ages event with free admission. The 2026 theme is “Pride Reimagined” in response to today’s political landscape. 

The Water Lantern Festival comes to Sacramento for on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Design a lantern with personal letters, notes, and dreams, then launch it into the water for a mesmerizing experience. This is a family-friendly event with food trucks, fun, and music. Children ages 7 and under attend free.

Start Father’s Day with a peaceful paddle at the Lodi Boathouse on Sunday, June 21, 2026. This will be a family-friendly 1.5-hour paddle. Rent a kayak at the Lodi Boathouse or bring your own for the event. Launch will begin at 8:30am. Arrive at 8am.

Take Dad to the Aerospace Museum of California for Top Dad Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Explore aircraft, participate in interactive activities, and spend quality time together. 

Celebrate Father’s Day at Funderland! Dads receive free admission on Sunday, June 21, 2026, only, with at least 1 paid child admission. 

If Dad loves to craft, take him to The Hot Spot Studios at Delta Shores on Sunday, June 21, 2026 for Donuts with Dad. Families will get to paint pottery while enjoying pastries on Father’s Day. Registration is required for this event. 

Glide into Father’s Day with a Father’s Day Skate on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at The Rink in Sacramento. All boys receive free skate rentals.
