Things to Do in Sacramento This Weekend with Kids (April 17–19, 2026)

As part of Día, kids can enjoy a Bilingual Storytime combining soccer and reading on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Galt – Marian O. Lawrence Library. Kids will receive a free book and create their own soccer-themed accessories at this free event.

Youth ages 12-24 can attend the free NorCal Arts Sactown Youth Nights on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Will C. Wood Middle School. This arts jam will include free food, art stations, an open mic, games, culture, skill-building, and more. This is a free event but pre-registration is required. 

A Kids Carnival and Magic Show that benefits the RiteCare Childhood Language Center of Sacramento will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Sacramento Scottish Rite. This is a family-friendly event that directly benefits the RiteCare Childhood Language Center of Sacramento that provides speech-language therapy at no cost to families. 

Catch a free outdoor movie at Evenings in the Park at various parks in Rocklin in 2026. In addition to a free movie, there will also be bounce houses, a chalk walk, and a bubble station. Event begins at 6pm and movies start at dusk. 

Kids can participate in a Story Stroll 2k Fun Run on Saturday, April 18, 2026 through Maidu Regional Park. They’ll discover characters, stories, and fun surprises along the way. Crafts, treats, games, and special guests will be at the finish line. Registration includes a t-shirt and medal. 

Families can participate in The Wonder Grove’s first-ever Bug Bash Fun Run on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Summerfield Park in West Sacramento. Complete the course as fast or as slow as you like! Just in time for Earth Day, the American River Parkway Foundation will have a spring clean-up on Saturday, April 18, 2026. All ages are welcome to volunteer from 9am to 12pm at 7 locations along the American River in Sacramento. Advance registration for the specific location is required. 

Join the Sacramento Audubon Society for a free family-friendly nature walk on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Effie Yeaw Nature Center at 9am. See if you can spot several birds! Binoculars available for loan. While this is a free event, there is a $7 vehicle parking fee. 

The annual UC Davis Picnic Day takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This free, family-friendly event is a beloved tradition that features parades, hands-on exhibits, animal encounters, and a Children’s Discovery Fair across the UC Davis campus.

Celebrate Earth STEAM Day at the Aerospace Museum on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 10am to 2pm. There will be special activities to honor the planet. 

The Sacramento Reptile Show slithers into Cal Expo for two days on Saturday & Sunday, April 18 & 19, 2026. Kids who love animals will appreciate Barnyard Biofest on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at World of Wonders Science Museum in Lodi. The event will have live animal interactions from highland cows to goats, chickens, sheep, pigs, and more, where kids can engage and learn about animal ecosystems. 

Celebrate Earth Day at Fairytale Town on Saturday, April 18, 2026 for a fun day of eco-friendly festivities from gardening activities, sustainable crafts, cooking demos, games, shows, and vendors. 

Head over to Hagan Community Barn in Rancho Cordova for a Barnyard Garden Party on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This event is for ages 5+. Meet animals and decorate a potted plant to take home. Pre-registration is required. 

Celebrate Earth Week kicks off on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Sutter’s Fort in Sacramento. This is free family-friendly event on the park grounds will include interactive crafts  and park cleanup opportunities. While this event is free, it is a $5 admission to enter the museum, which also grants access to the State Indian Museum. 

SMUD MOSAC will have a K-Pop Demon Hunters Laser Show on select Saturdays in March and April 2026. Two show times will include 10:30am and 4pm. Museum admission is required for entry, and is an additional $5 for the Laser Show. Online advance purchase of tickets is recommended as shows are likely to sell out. 

Family Fun Day takes place in Elk Grove on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This free event will have carnival games, activities, food trucks, and more family-friendly entertainment.

The free El Dorado Hills Spring Carnival takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Families will get to enjoy carnival games, face painting, bounce house obstacle courses, and more fun activities. 

Families are welcome to attend the free Autism Festival on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Liberty Towers Gym in Sacramento. There will be sensory-friendly activities, vendors, and resources. 

Stronger Together: A Family Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Mack Road Valley Hi Community Center. There will be kid-friendly activities, free BBQ for the first 300 attendees, live performances, and community resources at this free event. 

Catch the thrills and action at the A-All Mini Storage Monster Truck Bash on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the All American Speedway in Roseville. Two showtimes will occur at 2pm and 7pm, and both will have free pre-race parties 2 hours before the bash. Kids under 2 receive free admission. 

As part of the B Street Theatre Family Series, ONCE UPON A TIME… premieres in April on select days from April 18 to May 3, 2026. The performance will take the audience on exciting adventures. Performance is for children ages 5+ and runs for 1 hour and 15 minutes with an intermission. 

Arden Fair will have a free Earth Month event with Atrium916 on Saturday, April 18, 2026 that will focus on sustainability and inspire action. There will be a free tote bag coloring activity, booths, vendors, live music, and sustainable art. 

Little dancers can head to Flatland Brewery on Saturday, April 18, 2026 for a ballet pop-up event in Elk Grove. This free event will include a mini ballet lesson followed by coloring on the patio. While this is a free event, pre-registration is required. 

Celebrate Día de los Niños on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Arthur F Turner Community Library. Each child will receive a free book. There will be interactive activities and a performance by Mariachi Los Claveles. 

Kids can take to the miniature Sacramento streets of Safetyville USA to ride their bikes and learn about bike safety at Safetyville Bike Rodeos. Pre-registration for the event is required. 

The Artist Workshop in Lincoln will have a Kids Pottery Paint Night on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Kids will get to choose which piece of pottery to paint and get a pizza dinner from the Rebel Hen. 

Listen to Indigenous stories while roasting marshmallows around a campfire at the Maidu Museum in Roseville on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This is a family event that includes museum admission.

The free Sacramento Book Festival will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Scottish Rite Center from 10am to 5pm. The festival will have a kids zone and children’s book readings. The kids zone will open at 10am. Bring a children’s coloring or activity book to donate to the Mustard Seed School children’s book drive. 

Spring will be in the air at Bloom Fest at Lodi Lake on Sunday, April 19, 2026. This free, family-friendly event will include storytime, bouquet making, crafts, a nature scavenger hunt, and more. 

A Princess & Me Royal Tea will take place on select Sundays in April 2026 at the Sotherton Tea Room in Lincoln. There will be treats, tea, and a meet-and-greet with this month’s princess (Elsa). Reservations must be made by phone at (530)-305-4152.
