Día de los Muertos Events in Sacramento for Families 2026

Visit the Sacramento History Museum in Old Sacramento for a Community Day on Saturday, September 27, 2025 to kickoff the museum’s new exhibition, RCAF in Mictlán: 50th Anniversary of Dia de los Muertos. There will be family-friendly activities, including crafts and music. Admission will be half-priced. 

Bring the whole family to celebrate Arts in the Heart on Saturday, October 11, 2025 in West Sacramento. This free multicultural community event will have calavera (sugar skull) decorating, a Día De Los Muertos altar you can add photos to, a chalk the walk, art, dance performances, and more.

In honor of Día de los Muertos, kids can participate in Sugar Skull Decorating and enjoy pan de muerto on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the South Davis Montgomery Library. Available while supplies last. 

Día de los Muertos takes place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 in Northgate Park. There will be community altars, ballet folklirico, vendors, music, and more.  

A free Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration will take place at Arden Fair on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The event will include sugar skull decorating, interactive workshops, and live performances. 

The Dia de los Miles race will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at District 56 in Elk Grove. There will be a 5k and kids’ fun runs for ages 12 and under. Strollers are welcome on the course.

The Esparto Regional Library in Yolo County will have a free Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. There will be activities, a special presentation by Grupo Telpochkalli, hot chocolate, and more. Families can also photos to the community altar.

The Annual El Panteón de Sacramento takes place over three days from October 31 – November 2, 2025. Celebrate arts and culture during Día de los Muertos with altars, music, and a recreated cemetery (El Panteón). Pay tribute to loved ones at this popular community event at the Latino Center of Arts and Culture. 

The Día De Los Muertos 5k Race will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The race will occur at North Natomas Regional Park on a fully paved loop around the park. The course is flat and strollers are welcome. 

Culture Without Borders will focus on Dia de los Muertos on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Maidu Library in Roseville. There will be sugar skull decorating, Dance ballet folklorico, and play Loteria at this free community event. 

NorCal Resist will host a free Dia de Muertos Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The trunk-or-treat will be in connection to their free auto light repair program. There will be candy, food, and more.

The Davis Chamber of Commerce Dia de Muertos celebration takes place on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at G Street Plaza. There will be ofrendas from 4-7pm, and vendor booths from 4:30-7pm. 

Celebrate Día de los Muertos at Dave’s Pumpkin Patch on Saturday and Sunday, November 1 & 2, 2025. There will be Mariachi performances, face painting, and an Ofrenda that visitors can contribute photos and notes. 

TANA’s Día de Muertos Celebration will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025 in Woodland. This family-friendly event will have interactive crafts and a community altar. 

Celebrate Día de los Muertos Community Night at the Sacramento Children’s Museum on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Kids will be able to add mementos to the museum’s ofrenda, enjoy face painting, interactive activities, and participate in a sugar skulls workshop for an additional fee. 

Late Mouse Coffee in Folsom will have an all day Día de Los Muertos celebration on Sunday, November 2, 2025. There will be free coloring activities for children, music, conchas, and seasonal drinks. 

The Annual West Sacramento Día de los Muertos Celebration takes place on Sunday, November 2, 2025. This free community event will have crafts, games, an ofrenda (altar), Aztec dancers, a lowrider car show, vendors, and more. 

Celebrate Day of the Dead by dancing and singing with Cascada de Flores at a free bilingual concert on Sunday, November 2, 2025 in Davis. Help build a musical ofrenda. 

The California Museum will be having a family-friendly Día de los Muertos Fiesta on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The event will also celebrate the Grand opening of Sendero de las Almas Luminosas (Path of the Luminous Souls). There will be sugar skull workshops, interactive activities (for ages 3+), Aztec dancers, and more.

Join the California Museum for their I Love Sugar Skulls Workshops on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Pre-registration is required and includes admission to the California Museum, including the new Sendero de las Almas Luminosas (Path of the Luminous Souls) exhibit.
