1. Roseville Golfland Sunsplash — Roseville

If you want to play mini golf on a fantastic course with all the bells and whistles of windmills, mini buildings, castles, and fun obstacles, Roseville Golfland Sunsplash is the place to putt. This is where to go for a family-friendly outdoor mini-golf experience near Sacramento, and one of the best things to do in Sacramento with kids

Choose from one of the two eighteen-hole mini-golf courses with the themes of Adventure Golf and Lost Continent Golf. In addition to mini golf, there are many other family-friendly attractions at Roseville Golfland Sunsplash that kids will love, from bumper cars to go-karts and laser tag. The Sunsplash water park makes Roseville Golfland Sunsplash one of the essential summer bucket list things to do with kids in Sacramento, but the mini golf courses are open all year long.

2. Scandia Family Fun Center — North Highlands

Play mini golf at two Scandinavian-themed courses in North Highlands. The courses feature waterfalls, streams, and traditional mini-golf features like castles and windmills. The Scandia Family Fun Center also features other family-friendly attractions like go-karts, batting cages, bumper boats, and amusement rides.

3. Rock & Brews — Cal Expo

Why is a music-themed restaurant on a mini golf list? The Rock & Brews Cal Expo location stands out because it has extra activities like batting cages and an eighteen-hole mini-golf course. This is also why it’s on my list of kid-friendly restaurants in Sacramento. Mini golf at Rock & Brews is affordable at $10 per person. Kids aged five and under play mini golf for free.

Indoor Mini Golf in Sacramento

There’s something about mini-golf that feels like a nostalgic summer activity. If you’re creating new memories with your kids in Sacramento but it’s too hot to endure triple-digit sun rays in our Capital city, luckily, there are indoor mini-golf courses. Indoor mini-golf is an excellent option to consider as one of the things to do when it’s too hot or rainy in Sacramento.

4. Sac Town Family Fun Mini Golf & Arcade — Rancho Cordova

This indoor, eighteen-hole black-light mini golf course in Rancho Cordova is quite expansive. Some holes even direct you into different rooms, providing privacy and space. The course is pirate-themed, with unique and challenging holes. They also have an arcade. The black-light course makes this experience a unique way to enjoy mini golf indoors.

If you’ve worked up an appetite after mini golf, Sac Town Family Fun is adjacent to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Rancho Cordova. Additionally, Fort Rock Brewing is right there. Kids are allowed in the Fort Rock Brewing tap room, and appetizers can be delivered to the tap room from the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Older kids may also want to extend the day with adventures at the nearby Red Door Escape Room and Zion Virtual Reality.

5. Underground Mini Golf — Old Sacramento

As the name implies, Underground Mini Golf is an eighteen-hole underground mini golf course in Old Sacramento. The course leans into the Old Sacramento Gold Rush theme. Immersive holes take you through a story that begins stocking a wagon in the Midwest during the Gold Rush to travel to Sacramento to pan for gold. There are vivid art murals on the walls throughout the course.

Another perk is that they offer complimentary lockers to store things if you pick up some souvenirs from the Old Sacramento Waterfront.

6. CaliGlo Indoor Entertainment — Elk Grove

There’s another glo-in-the-dark indoor mini golf course in Sacramento. This one is in Elk Grove. Play an eighteen-hole California-themed course with holes that feature a movie studio arch, surfers, wine barrels, a mini Capitol State building, and more iconic California imagery. In addition to mini golf, they also have Nerf Wars. CaliGlo is next door to The Alley, making it possible to combine mini golf and bowling for a fun-filled day.

7. Tipsy Putt — DOCO

While Tipsy Putt is typically more geared toward the adult crowd, families and kids under 21 can play on their nine-hole indoor mini-golf course before 5pm. If you need quick indoor entertainment for kids at DOCO, this could make a lively outing. In addition to mini golf, there is a tabletop golf option. Tipsy Putt also has a restaurant with high chairs available.

8. The Mackenzie Putting Course — Haggin Oaks

Let me be clear: the MacKenzie Putting Course at Haggins Oaks Golf Complex is not a mini golf course. So, what’s it doing on this list? It’s a fantastic family golf outing and an affordable one at that. This is an outdoor nine-hole putting course without any mini-golf components. It’s an approachable way to introduce kids of all ages and abilities to the game of golf with no frills.

While you won’t find any windmills at this course, golfers will navigate sand traps and water hazards. For $1-$2 per person, it’s an unbelievably affordable deal to get kids active and outdoors, playing golf on a distinctive course. This putting course is a one-of-a-kind golf experience that is a little different than a typical mini golf course. Find the MacKenzie Putting Course behind the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop.
