From mesmerizing lion dances to delicious festive cuisine, these family-friendly Sacramento Lunar New Year festivities provide a cultural experience for all ages.
Elk Grove will host a two-day Lunar New Year festival that combines Mardi Gras into the celebration. Fairytale Town celebrates the Lunar New Year with a storytime and crafts. For the first time, the Sacramento River Fox Train will have a one-day Lunar New Year train called The Celestial Journey. These kid-friendly Lunar New Year events in Sacramento only scratch the surface of fun ways to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse. Join the Chinese New Year Culture Association (CNYCA) for a Year of the Horse celebration on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Luther Burbank High School.
Celebrate Lunar New Year with The Creative Space on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Old Town Plaza in Elk Grove. This free event will have performances from the Tengfei Lion Dance Group, a kids arts and crafts station, lucky red envelopes given to kids while supplies last, vendors, and more.
Celebrate Lunar New Year at Arden Fair with a free family-friendly event welcoming the Year of the Horse on February 7, 2026 with the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy a day of live performances from lion dancers, family-friendly hands-on cultural activities, and more.
Celebrate Lunar New Year with the Yolo County Library on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Davis Veterans Memorial Center. This free family-friendly celebration will have dragon and lion dancing, folk dances, ballet, music, and martial arts from 2pm to 4pm.

Dragon Dance & Lion Dance performances will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Dumpling King in downtown Sacramento. The performances will occur at 3pm. Red envelopes with prizes will also be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Climb aboard The Celestial Journey Lunar New Year train ride on the Sacramento River Fox Train on Saturday, February 21, 2026. This two-hour train ride will be transformed in red and gold, lanterns, silks, and cultural dishes. The “Red Lantern” General Admission includes a family-style banquet.
The STEAM for Kids free program at the Southgate Library on February, 21, 2026 will be Lunar New Year-themed. Kids can create projects related to Lunar New Year. This program is recommended for ages 6-12.
A Lunar New Year Lion Dance will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 3pm at Rooftop Macarons in Sacramento. The first 50 guests will receive complimentary horse macarons, and the first 50 customers will receive lucky red envelopes.
