Nature Explorers is a monthly, open play, drop-in program at the Sacramento Zoo that includes sensory play, interactive activities, nature observation, and more on the first Saturday of every month, all year. The theme changes each month. Nature Explorers takes place from 10am to 2pm behind the restroom near The Okapi Trail, and is included with regular zoo admission.
Celebrate Earth Fest: Party for the Planet on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Sacramento Zoo. The day will include nature, sustainability, and fun educational activities, including answering trivia questions to get zoo trading cards. An animal ambassador presentation will take place at 11:15am in the amphitheater. This event is included with regular zoo admission.
Head to the Sacramento Zoo for a roar-some Jurassic Party on Saturday, March 14, 2026. There will be movie-inspired vehicles throughout the zoo, and dino-themed food and drinks. The monthly Nature Explorers program at the Sacramento Zoo will also be dinosaur-themed. Kids wearing a paleontologist or dinosaur costume might win a free prize. This event is included with regular zoo admission.
A Dinosaur Safari at Sacramento Zoo stomps into Land Park starting Monday, February 16, 2026. Life-size animatronic dinosaurs will be at the Sacramento Zoo through October 5, 2026. A launch party will take place on February 16 with dino-themed prizes and food.

The Sacramento Zoo will have Species in the Spotlight on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 9am to noon. Zebras and hornbills will be the animals in the spotlight. Kids can create a Grevy's zebra mask, hornbill bracelet, and get a zebra trading card.

Join the Sacramento Zoo for Holiday Magic on Saturday, December 6, 2025. There will be educational activities, animals enjoying holiday enrichment, and photos with Santa from 9am to 1:30pm in the Kampala Cafe. Holiday Magic is included with regular zoo admission.
Participate in Boo Clues on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the Sacramento Zoo where you'll go on a spooky scavenger hunt throughout the zoo. Note that this is not a trick-or-treating event. There will be free carousel rides, free mini donuts, and check out animal enrichment with pumpkins.
