Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm is the Disneyland of pumpkin patches in the Sacramento area. It’s beloved for its bounty of kid-friendly attractions, and is usually crowded, particularly on weekends. If you’re able to visit on a weekday, you’ll have a much less crowded experience. Crowds shouldn’t stop you from going to this wonderful farm, though.
Admission is free to Bishop’s, and there are many free attractions for kids to enjoy, including hayrides, a hay jump, and several play areas such as Farmer Bill’s Barn, a tree house, honey houses, and a wild west kid’s town. Parking is also free through September. Parking fees begin during weekends in October. There are also several attractions you can pay for à la carte, from a carousel to tractor rides, a sunflower whirl, a petting zoo, and more.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the famous apple cider slushies and floats at Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm. Their seasonal treats are very Instagram-worthy. There are many savory foods, such as turkey legs and pretzels, as well as sweet, seasonal treats available at their farm.
Address: Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm | 1415 Pumpkin Lane, Wheatland, CA 95692
2. Dave’s Pumpkin Patch at Vierra Farms — West Sacramento
Opening Saturday, September 20, 2025
Known for: The Cornival, pony rides, a new corn maze design each year, and apple cider cinnamon donuts
Kids will love all there is to do at “the cornival.” Highlights include the jumping pillow, weekend pumpkin chunkin, pirate shows, and a corn maze that changes each year. Speaking of the corn maze, older kids who want a scare may be intrigued by the haunted corn maze on select days. Admission pricing includes all activities in the Cornival!
Dave’s Pumpkin Patch also has weekend pony rides. However, pony rides are an additional fee and not included with admission. Don’t skip out on the hot apple cider donuts, but be warned that lines can get long.
Important to note: Dave’s is a cash-only farm. It’s recommended to purchase tickets in advance online (which will also save you a few dollars) and bring cash for extra purchases at the farm. If you forget cash, there is an ATM on-site, but it has a pricey withdrawal fee.
Address: Dave’s Pumpkin Patch | 3010 Burrows Ave., West Sacramento, CA 95691
3. Fowler Ranch Pumpkin Patch — Lincoln
Opening Saturday, September 20, 2025

Launch pumpkins at Fowler Ranch by way of a slingshot! There will also be rubber animals at the pumpkin patch, where kids can sit and bounce around. Fowler Ranch is one of the stops on the popular annual Placer County Farm and Barn Tour, which takes place on Sunday, October 12. A Hawks Ranch Petting Zoo will be an additional feature for kids at Fowler Ranch that day.
Another unique aspect of Fowler Ranch is that they have a farm brewery. This makes a relaxing option for a break before or after the pumpkin patch. The brewery has a large indoor area with seating, as well as an outdoor area. There are also games for families to enjoy. The brewery is open select hours on Thursdays to Sundays. Fowler Ranch also has a year-round Certified Farmers’ Market on Sundays from 9am to 1pm.

Bobby Dazzler’s is all about the pumpkins. They have a large selection of the seasonal gourds priced by size and variety, not weight. Admission is free to enter the pumpkin patch. There is also free parking and a free play zone.
There are paid activities for kids that include a cow train, petting zoo, face painting, and a bounce house. Each attraction is a separate cost. I will say that compared to other pumpkin patches on this list, these attraction prices are steep.

5. Little Field Farms — Loomis
Opening Saturday, September 20, 2025
Known for: Rustic, family-run farm that’s low key for a fall outing with horse carriage rides
Compared to other pumpkin patches in the Sacramento area for families, Little Field Farms is a smaller operation. That means, if you want to avoid crowds and keep it to the essentials, this could be a good option for families.
In addition to the farm-grown pumpkins, the main attractions at the pumpkin patch include a corn maze and a mini-pumpkin slingshot. They also do horse carriage rides through the pumpkin patch. While admission is free, costs can add up as the attractions have separate fees.

6. Cool Patch Pumpkins — Dixon
Opening Sunday, September 20, 2025
Known for: The best corn maze in the Sacramento area
It’s worth it alone to take the drive to Dixon for the world-record corn maze at Cool Patch Pumpkins. At one point, it was the world’s largest corn maze, and the design changes each year. It’s so large that people have called 9-1-1 while in the maze. However, don’t call them if you get lost in there. Instead, walk between the rows of corn until you reach the edge line, and exit the corn maze. Then, walk around the perimeter until you get back to the plaza.
Strollers are not allowed in the corn maze, so you may want to wait to take kids along until they can walk on their own. You might be in there for a while, so it’s not ideal if you have newly potty-trained toddlers or babies who might need frequent diaper changes. If you love corn mazes, this is the best corn maze near Sacramento.
In addition to the must-do corn maze, the pumpkin patch has a range of activities for kids, including a hay castle, hayride, and corn bath. Each activity has separate fees.
Address: Cool Patch Pumpkins | 6150 Dixon Ave West, Dixon, CA 95620
7. Keema’s Pumpkin Farm — Elk Grove

Known for: No-frills pumpkin patch with hayrides and farm animals in Elk Grove
Elk Grove families enjoy Keema’s Pumpkin Farm. This pumpkin patch is ideal for younger kids as it has all the fall necessities without being overwhelming. My son could have spent all day feeding the farm animals. The farm staff gave him food he could feed to them. There are tricycles for kids to ride, a small hay maze for the littles, and unlimited hayrides to a large pumpkin patch for picking.
Keema’s Pumpkin Farm tops the list of the best fall activities in Elk Grove for families.

8. Fog Willow Farms — Wilton
Opening Saturday, September 27, 2025
Known for: A wonderful family-friendly farm near Elk Grove with lots of animals, unlimited hayrides, barrel trains, and play areas for kids
Fog Willow Farms is a gem of a farm for kids and families on the edge of Elk Grove. It’s also a lovely farm. There’s a large water feature in the middle of the farm, which provides a relaxing atmosphere. I attended their Spring Chicken Festival and our family adored it. To get a sense of what to expect, check out my Instagram Reel from the Spring Chicken Festival at Fog Willow Farms.
Out of all the farms in the Sacramento area I’ve visited so far, Fog Willow has the most animals to see. There’s a donkey, a tortoise, goats, alpacas, and every kind of farm animal you can imagine. Feeding machines are located throughout the farm to feed some animals. Tip: Bring change (quarters, specifically) for the animal feed machines.
Fog Willow Farms has a flat admission fee that includes unlimited family attractions, such as hayrides, a barrel train, a petting zoo, and more. It’s one of the best pumpkin patch deals near Sacramento, in my opinion. Additional costs apply for food and gem mining in the Big Dig Mining Area. If you’re looking for a fun pumpkin patch with lots to do for a reasonable price, this is a fantastic option. Younger kids will especially appreciate all the animals they’ll be able to interact with.
