George Park in Elk Grove: A Dinosaur-Themed Playground Kids Will Love
If your kids love dinosaurs, there are select spots in the Sacramento Area to enjoy prehistoric playgrounds and Jurassic fun. George Park in Elk Grove is one of the few dinosaur-themed playgrounds for kids in Sacramento.
This beloved park is affectionately known as the “dinosaur playground” in Elk Grove. George Park is also home to one of the 12 splash pads in Elk Grove for kids. With a zipline, sand area, and dinosaur climbing equipment, this is easily one of the best playgrounds in Sacramento for kids. There are even fossil footprints throughout the park. Check out what to expect at George Park in my Instagram Reel.

Multiple Play Structures for All Ages
There are two play structures at George Park. Younger kids can enjoy a play structure, ideal for ages 2-5. Older kids can get a more challenging experience at the playground for kids ages 5-12. Both play structures have fun slides and climbing equipment. There is quite a bit for kids to climb at this park, from small rock climbing walls that younger kids can ascend to dinosaur bones.
Swing into Fun
In addition to a wide range of playground equipment, there are various swings for kids, including a bucket swing and a regular swing. George Park also has a spinner with an adaptive seat.
Zipline & Slack Line

If being dinosaur-themed wasn’t cool enough, George Park also has a zipline! It’s one of two parks in Elk Grove that has a zipline for kids. The only other park in Elk Grove with a zipline is Pedersen Park (which is also a fantastic playground). A slack line is near the zipline, providing kids with nonstop fun and physical challenges.
Sand Play Area

George Park has a huge sand play area! It’s usually packed with kids in the summertime. Don’t forget to bring buckets and shovels so kids can dig into the sand area. There are a few shade covers over the sand area, but the park still gets a lot of sun.
George Park Spray Ground

Did you know there are 12 splash pads in Elk Grove?! George Park is home to one of those 12 splash pads. That said, I wouldn’t recommend going to this park if you’re looking for a splash pad. There are many better splash pads in Elk Grove (like the nearby Oasis Park).
The George Park spray ground is more like a bonus perk. It’s basically a dinosaur bone, mister, that kids can run through. It’s ideal if the kids get sandy and want to run through the seasonal spray ground to rinse the sand.
The spray ground at George Park is open seasonally from May to September. If you’ve visited all the splash pads in Elk Grove, check out the best splash pads in Sacramento.
Other Park Amenities

George Park has a few covered picnic pavilions that provide relief from the sun on hot summer days. Apart from this, there is no shade at this park, and it gets very hot in the summer. Other park amenities include half-court basketball, cornhole, and bocce. Bring your own cornhole and bocce equipment, as these are permanent fixtures you can use.
If you plan to stay awhile, know that there are no restrooms at George Park. Additionally, there is no designated parking lot. Simply park on the street in the neighborhood next to the park.
