Jonathan's Amazing Magic Show will be a free 45-minute performance on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Southgate Library. This magic show is ideal for kids ages 6-9.
Kids of all ages can participate in a Paint Party on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Elk Grove Library. Pixie Tribe will also be doing face painting.
'Tis the season for Christmas in July at the Sacramento River Cats game on Saturday, July 25, 2026 versus the Oklahoma City Comets. Expect festive fun as the holidays come early.
The annual Pear Fair will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026 in the Sacramento River Delta town of Courtland. Entry to the fair is free. There will be a kids' area with a wide range of fun activities, a Youth Duck Calling, a Fun Run, and more. While there is no admission fee to attend the Pear Fair, parking is $20; cash only.
Kids can enjoy a free paleta (popsicle) on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the McKinley Library from 10:30am to 11:30am. Bilingual music will be performed by Mariela's Music Time. Free books will be provided to kids while supplies last.
World of Wonder Science Museum (WOW) in Lodi will have free all-day admission for all on select Sundays in 2026.
Southgate Recreation & Park's District free annual Movie in the Park series returns on various Tuesday and Thursday summer evenings in 2026. Each movie will be shown at a different park. Arrive early at 6pm for kid-friendly activities from the R.E.C. Van, games, and crafts. Movies will begin playing at sunset.
Summer Family Friday at The Crocker Art Museum is a monthly program for kids of all ages in June and August 2026 on the first Friday of the month. Each month will have a different theme and include hands-on art, live performances, and creative fun. Summer Family Friday is included with regular museum admission.
The Yolo County Fair takes place for two weeks in 2026, from August 7-9 & 12-16, 2026. The "Hog August Nights" fair has free entry at the gate. Parking is $10 per car.
The Food Literacy Center will have monthly First Fridays in Oak Park from June to August at 3428 3rd Avenue. There will be a free kids farmers market, free popcorn, and family-friendly activities from 5pm to 8pm while supplies last.
Recreation Center in West Sacramento will have two dive-in movies in 2026 where you can watch movies while in the pool! Pool access begins 30 minutes before the movie starts playing at sundown.
Nature Explorers is a monthly, open play, drop-in program at the Sacramento Zoo that includes sensory play, interactive activities, nature observation, and more on the first Saturday of every month, all year. The theme changes each month. Nature Explorers takes place from 10am to 2pm behind the restroom near The Okapi Trail, and is included with regular zoo admission.
Spooky season comes early in West Sacramento. Summerween at Dave's Pumpkin Patch takes place on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The mischievous summer day will have BBQ, a jumping pillow, pony rides, live music, and family fun. Costumes are welcome but optional. Admission is free!
As part of Friday Night Movies in Galt, there will be a free Dive-In Movie on Friday, August 14, 2026 at the Gora Aquatic Center. The movie Moana will be shown. Families can enjoy free Friday Night Movies every second Friday of the month at Veterans Field in Galt from June to September 2026. Gates open at 6pm and movies begin at dusk.
Attention, muggles! A DroneArt Show: Harry Potter™ will light up the Sacramento skies for two summer nights on August 14 & 15, 2026 at Cal Expo. Be amazed at 1,200 drones recreating characters and favorite moments from Harry Potter™ films. Arrive early for themed food and drinks. This show is family-friendly and for all ages. Kids under 3 attend for free.
The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary will be buzzin' on Saturday, August 15, 2026 for National Honey Bee Day. Kids can participate in bee-themed activities while learning about pollinators. There will also be live bee demos. Stop by the honey tasting tables, and don't forget to pick up a jar of honey harvested at the Folsom Zoo.
Monster Jam revs and rolls into Sacramento for two days on August 15 & 16, 2026. The action takes place at the Golden 1 Center. Pit parties will also occur at select shows.
The Sacramento Banana Festival will take place for two days on August 16 & 17, 2025 in Land Park. The Banana Festival is a multicultural family-friendly festival where countries are celebrated that grow bananas. There will be a kids' zone with banana-themed activities, reptile meet & greets, hands-on art activities, a kids' inflatable obstacle course, food featuring bananas, live music, contests and more!
The Crocker Art Museum screens Movies Off the Wall on monthly Thursday evenings the summer. Films will be showed in the museum's outdoor courtyard. This movie series is better for teens and college students. The 2026 movie theme is romantic comedies from the 90s and early 2000s.
Splash into an outdoor movie at Dive-In Movie at the Elk Grove Aquatics Center. In 2026, family-friendly movies in the pool will be shown once a month from June to August. The pool opens at 4pm, and the movies begin showing at sunset.
Calling all wizards and muggles: The Sacramento River Cats will have Harry Potter Night on Saturday, August 22, 2026. There will be themed entertainment during the baseball game. Additionally, fireworks will take place after the game.
Join Fairytale Town as they celebrate their 67th birthday on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Humpty Dumpty will lead a "Happy Birthday" sing-along at 12pm in the Story Center. There will be photo ops, crafts, and egg-themed games. This event is included with regular museum admission.

Prepare for kids to get dirty at Mess Fest at the Sacramento Children's Museum on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Kids are encouraged to dress for messy fun in either a swimsuit, play clothes, or rain boots. There will be sticky, gooey, messy, and dirty fun. A wash-off station will be available. A change of clothes is also recommended.
