A Guide to the Capay Valley Almond Festival at Seka Hills
As the end of February approaches, almond blossoms flutter their beauty across the Central Valley. These attractive blooms are enticing to visit and spectacular to see in person. However, most almond blossom trees are on private property.
Luckily, there are a few places where you can see almond blossoms near Sacramento. These locales welcome visitors and are family-friendly. One of these almond blossom destinations is the Capay Valley Almond Festival in Yolo County. More specifically, Seka Hills hosts an annual Almond Festival that’s part of the festival.
I have experienced the Capay Valley Almond Festival at Seka Hills with a toddler. So, I’ve got the inside scoop on everything you need to know about enjoying the spectacle of the almond blossoms with kids at Seka Hills.

About Seka Hills
Seka Hills is a high-quality estate-grown virgin olive oil producer grown on tribal lands. They also produce wine, honey, nuts, and other agricultural offerings. Seka Hills is owned and operated by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.
When dining out at the many farm-to-fork kid-friendly restaurants in Sacramento, it’s common to come across local eateries that use Seka Hills products.
Seka Hills has two locations in the Sacramento area. The annual Capay Valley Almond Festival occurs at the Seka Hills Olive Mill & Tasting Room in Brooks. Seka Hill’s second location is in midtown Sacramento at the Ice Blocks.
The drive time from Sacramento to the Seka Hills Olive Mill & Tasting Room in Brooks is about an hour.
Almond Festival Time of Year
The Capay Valley Almond Festival typically occurs during the last weekend in February. While it’s a two-day festival, most events are on the last Sunday in February. The Seka Hills Almond Festival occurs on the Sunday of the Capay Valley Almond Festival.
How to See the Almond Blossoms at Seka Hills
Seka Hills is one of the few public places where families can visit almond blossoms near Sacramento.
You need tickets to see the almond blossoms at Seka Hills. At the time I visited, almond blossom tours were free. However, it seems they began charging a fee per person for almond blossom tickets in 2025. Tickets tend to be available on-site, first-come, first-serve. Contact Seka Hills directly to confirm the cost of almond blossom tickets, the ages they are charging for, and how to obtain tickets. It tends to change from year-to-year.
When arriving at Seka Hills, there will be a booth near the entrance with a sign that says, “Almond Blossom Tours.” Get tickets for the amount of people in your party the moment you arrive.

Almond Blossom Tours
Almond blossom tours only ran once at the top of each hour when I visited in 2024. There is a large tractor ride with hay bales that takes groups of people to see the almond blossoms. Each tour is limited to the amount of people that fit in the tractor ride. I’d estimate about 20 people per tour, or so.
While the tractor takes you on the short ride to the almond blossoms, the driver will share fun and interesting facts about Seka Hills, almonds, and the area’s rich agricultural history. There are also a few farm animals to see on the way. Have kids sit on the right side of the tractor so they can admire the farm animals on the ride.
You will not be able to bring a stroller with you on the almond blossom tour if you have babies or toddlers. Put your stroller in the car before the tour departs. Young kids can sit on laps. If you have a baby, I recommend bringing a baby carrier for the hay bale ride.
Upon arriving at the almond blossoms, the tractor ride will stop and let everyone explore the beautiful white and pink trees for about 10 minutes. You can take photos at your leisure before reboarding the tractor ride back to the Seka Hills tasting room.

Other Almond Festival Activities
In addition to seeing the almond blossoms, it’s a must to get an olive oil ice cream sandwich during the festival! Seka Hills is known for its high-caliber olive oil, and this is a delicious and indulgent way to try it.
Speaking of olive oil, Seka Hills conducts olive oil and balsamic vinegar tastings inside its tasting room. My personal favorite is their pomegranate balsamic. In addition to the ice cream sandwich and taste-testing their products, there are many vendors on-site selling homemade wares. Live music occurs throughout the day, too.
When my family visited, there was a honey producer who had a large case of live bees. My toddler was particularly drawn to this display.
Food Options at Seka Hills
I’ve already mentioned the olive oil ice cream sandwich. Besides this, there are a few food trucks at the Almond Festival. There is also a deli inside the Seka Hills tasting room that has a variety of sandwiches, charcuterie, and salads.
I highly recommend enjoying a bite to eat outside on their inviting patio. It’s in a beautiful and relaxing setting overlooking rolling hills.

Parking & Restrooms
There is a large parking lot at Seka Hills in Brooks. Parking is free. The bathrooms inside the Seka Hills tasting room are very nice! They also have a baby changing table in them.
